The LHC collides ions at new record energy

Geneva, 25 November 2015. After the successful restart of the Large Hadron Collider and its first months of data taking with proton collisions at a new energy frontier, the LHC is moving to a new phase, with the first lead-ion collisions of season 2 at an energy about twice as high as that of any previous collider experiment.

Breakthrough Prize 2016

At an official Ceremony in Silicon Valley on  November 8, 2015 the winners of a prestigious scientific award — Breakthrough Prize 2016 in Fundamental Physics were announced. Today, the international Daya Bay Collaboration announces new findings on the measurements of neutrinos, paving the way forward for further neutrino research, and confirming that the Daya Bay neutrino experiment continues to be one to watch. ATLAS and CMS experiments shed light on Higgs properties

CERN makes public first data of LHC experiments

Geneva 20 November 2014. CERN launched today its Open Data Portal where data from real collision events, produced by the LHC experiments will for the first time be made openly available to all. It is expected that these data will be of high value for the research community, and also be used for education purposes.

On 8 April 2014, the LHCb Collaboration released new results on their unambiguous observation of a particle that seems to be made of four quarks.

A new type of neutrino oscillation was discovered in the T2K experiment

Today at the European Physical Society meeting in Stockholm (EPS HEP 2013), the international T2K collaboration announced a definitive observation of muon neutrino to electron neutrino transformation. In 2011, the collaboration announced the first indication of this process, which was then a new type of neutrino oscillation; now, with 3.5 times more data, this transformation is firmly established.
